Canada's CFO of the Year 2013 award nominations now open

TORONTO-- Nominations are now being accepted for the 2013 Canada's CFO of the Year™ Award. The presenting sponsors for the 2013 award are Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada), PwC and Robert Half. Now in its 11th year, the award honours the quality, insight, direction and leadership of Canada's senior financial leaders. Nominations close on December 21, 2012.

Candidates from any business sector may be nominated by CEOs, corporate directors, financial analysts and other senior executives. An independent selection committee, comprising some of Canada's most prominent business leaders, will select the award winner. The recipient of Canada's CFO of the Year Award will be honoured at a gala dinner in May 2013.

"Financial executives are at the centre of managing business risks, while also fostering innovation to improve corporate reporting and overall organizational performance,” said Michael Conway, Chief Executive and National President of FEI Canada, the all-industry professional membership association for senior financial executives. "They work with fellow executive team members to lead their organization to success by thinking strategically."

"The CFO of an organization is critical in bringing strong financial management skills within an environment of sound corporate governance and ethical business conduct," said Gino Scapillati, National Managing Partner of PwC, which has more than 5,700 partners and staff in offices across the country who provide assurance, tax, consulting and deals services. "We look forward to another winner being added to this celebrated list of award recipients."

Kathryn Bolt, Canadian President of Robert Half, a specialized financial recruitment service, added: "Many organizations across Canada are often looking to their finance team - with the CFO at its helm - for insight and guidance in accomplishing their strategic growth objectives. Canada's CFO of the Year Award recognizes the value and influence of the finance leader, as well as the entire finance function."

Previous recipients of Canada's CFO of the Year Award include Colleen Johnston, Group Head Finance and Chief Financial Officer, TD Bank Group in 2012; Gordon Maron, Executive Vice President, (former Chief Financial Officer) PCL Construction Holdings Ltd. in 2011; and Richard Bird, Executive Vice-President, Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Development, Enbridge Inc. in 2010.
